- Will be working with infectious and /or hazardous materials, performing routine and highly complex analytic procedures involving manual techniques, molecular-based technologies, or laboratory instruments and information systems.
- Must possess good written and communication skills for interpretation of culture results and entering results in the hospital LIS or hospital computer operating system
- Recognize critical, abnormal, and unacceptable test result
- Perform and support quality controls, safety, preventative maintenance, policies, and technical procedures in microbiology and serology departments
- Microorganism identification (aerobic and anaerobic) and initiate to perform appropriate corresponding sensitivity testing
- Knowledge of parasitology, mycology and AFB is a plus but not required
- Problem-solving by use of analytical, technical, and critical thinking
- Practice good laboratory management and best safe practices at all times
